Stansbury Island and the Great Salt Lake are magical areas in Utah. As I was driving east the colors began to glow. I'm not sure I have ever run so fast to select a spot to shoot a photo. I got this one just before the color faded.

Glen Canyon, Utah. The Cathedral In The Desert in Clear Creek Canyon along the Escalante River, tributary of the Colorado River in Glen Canyon. Shot on 4x5 film. This sacred place was uncovered from the floodwaters behind Glen Canyon Dam (Lake Powell) due to prolonged drought conditions. It is time to question the wisdom of ever again filling this reservoir. Go to www.glencanyon.org for info.

I've hiked this path in Zion National Park several times. Only once did I see this red rock at this spot. It makes the photo in my mind. Shot on 4x5 film. Utah

I got up very early to get this shot made on 4x5 film. Setting up a large format camera in the dark isn't easy. Fortunately, I managed to get everything in focus and the sunrise didn't disappoint. Deadhorse Point State Park, Utah

Using the Homestead Act signed by Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jeremy built this stone cabin in 1863. Located in what is now Summit County, Utah, it was the primary residence of Mr. Jeremy at Jeremy Ranch. This cabin was built to last, and Utah would not gain Statehood for over three decades after its completion. East Canyon.

When the winds blow from the north, and the temp is cold, ice sometimes piles up on the south shore of Utah Lake. On this evening, the sunset was spectacular.

This place is both subtle and overwhelming at the same time. While I have hiked there often, it always blows my mind. Zion National Park, Utah

This dreamy photo is that way in part because it was shot using a very dark neutral density filter. The exposure was about 1.5 minutes, making the water and trees blowing in the wind look soft. I like the effect. Utah

Along the Weber River in Summit County, Utah, there are pockets of still water forming lovely wetlands. This is one such spot.

Canyonlands National Park, Utah. The confluence of the Green and Colorado Rivers is the heart of the Colorado Plateau. The Green River drops in from the upper center of the photograph and joins the Colorado River, coming in from the lower right of the photograph. The Colorado River continues on towards Cataract Canyon, just beyond the upper left of the image. This is a magical place.
